" Innovation requires a good idea, initiative and a few friends."
- Herb Shepherd, "Rules of Thumb for Change Agenda"
The Transition model is a catalyst, a road map, an open-source model, a set of principles, a design solution, a network, common sense. It is positive, adaptable and non-prescriptive, inspiring and useful. It is a way to organize your community, neighborhood, school, church, group or business in preparing for a future with less cheap, easy energy.
The best way understand the Transition model is probably to read "The Transition Handbook: From oil dependency to local resilience," by Rob Hopkins.
But if you're the impatient sort -- and aren't we all -- the good news is there is tons of transition info on the Web to help soak your brain a bit in the Transition model.
